Q: What is something that you really want to do?
A: "Travel the world, of course! An' in an ideal scenario, I could do it with everyone else, too."
Q: How are you?
A: "Seen better days, definitely. But hasn't everyone?"
Q: At what point did it all go wrong?
A: "...You're a cheerful lot, ain't ya? I guess I'd have to say it was after I finished off my old man, but... Well, things wouldn't be any better if I hadn't."
Q: What are you going to do after everything?
A: "Is 'sleep for 20 years' an acceptable answer? Jokes aside, I reckon I might take a little bit of time to relax. I love adventure an' I wouldn't give it up for the world, but everyone needs to sit down for a while at some point."
Belmaia was born to a single mother, Aralaia. She's never known her father and probably never will. Her childhood was pretty sheltered, given that she never really left the village in which she was raised (at least not with permission) and she was never really allowed much headway when it came to going out on hunts with everyone else. Times were already tough enough, with so little food to go around at the time that she usually ended up giving her share to her chronically ill cousin, Inyis, and settled for eating whatever scraps she could scavenge up herself.
None of this was at all helped by the fact that her great grandfather was quite literally the devil himself, Murithos. Creator of the tieflings. She was taught very strictly by her mother to never tell anyone about that, and she certainly never did. It was something she was ashamed of. And Murithos was someone she feared.
The biggest turning point in Belmaia's life was when she met her adopted older brother, Phil. She used to sneak out of the village a lot when left unsupervised, and one day happened upon a lizardfolk, around her own age, working in a mining camp that was being overseen by a group of pirates. For seemingly no reason, Belmaia developed an attachment to that lizardfolk, and wanted desperately to free him from the prison he was being kept in. It all came to a boiling point when she finally did try to free him, but the two were caught by the pirates' captain, Captain Flamebeard. Belmaia tried to stand up for herself and her friend, and put up a fair fight, but was ultimately greviously wounded and knocked unconscious. That was how she got the X-shaped scar on her face.
